Mary Helen Marbury, 94, of Indian Head, Maryland, quickly departed this life June 3, 2008 at Civista Medical Center in LaPlata, Maryland. Born on November 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Hester Thomas, and had resided in Indian Head her entire life.
In 1931, she was united in marriage to the late Richard Lorenzo Marbury. This union lasted for 63 years. To this union eight children were born. Helen, as she was affectionately known, joined Metropolitan at an early age. She served on the Usher Board and was a Communion Stewardess. She was a faithful member of the church until her health began to fail. She was employed at the Naval Ordnance Station and later with the Charles County Board of Education until her retirement. After retiring, Helen loved sitting on her porch watching "The Price is Right" and "Last of the Summer Wines." She loved spending time caring for her flower garden, shopping, and eating out were a few of her past time favorites. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her oldest son, Thomas L. Marbury, she is survived by seven children: Calvin, Romaine, Patricia (Kitt Harrison), Robert, Garrett (Helen), Sharon, and Shelly (Tyrone Taylor). Helen leaves one sister, Evelyn Lowe; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; two special sons — Dr. James Chesley, Jr. and Harold Thomas, and a host of friends and relatives. |
