Francis Allen Spriggs known as "Peanut" departed his life on September 3, 2016 at Providence Hospital Washington, DC in the Capital Caring Hospice Unit. He slipped quietly into the arms of God. Born on February 28, 1958 to the late George Francis & Shirley Ann Spriggs.

Peanut was educated in the Charles County Public School Systems in Maryland. He was employed with the Charles County Government and retired 27 years from the College of Southern Maryland in La Plata.

He enjoyed making people laugh by being a jokers like his "Uncle Ben". He loved playing with his grandchildren, watching wrestling, playing the lottery and traveling with his friends on the bowling team. He enjoyed and loved playing in the band (Paul Wills and Brother Seven) and singing gospel music with the Gods Inspiration of Southern Maryland.

Peanut leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife Alice and his four sons, Allen (Marquita), Steven, Darnell and Tyrone (Stephanie); three grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole and Daija; two brothers, Lorenza "Andy" and David (Kay); two sisters, Brenda (Michael) and Barbara Spriggs; sisters-in-law, Jackie (Calvin) Williams, Lizzie Levere & Carolyn Levere; four nieces, Montisha and Shray Spriggs, Shearl and Nicole Levere; seven nephews, Atraya Spriggs, Dale and Maurice Dudley, Edwin & Carl Williams and Chris Levere; two great-niece, Victoria & Brianna Spriggs; one god child Jessica Washington; friend, Joyce Ford. He also leaves to cherish a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10am; Mass 11am; Saturday, September 10th, Our Lady Help Christian Catholic Church, Waldorf, Maryland. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pomfret, Maryland. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.
