Jack Davis, 94, of La Plata, MD passed away peacefully October 16, 2015 at First in Quality Care Assisted Living in Waldorf, Maryland. Jack was born October 4, 1921, in Mount Olive, North Carolina. He lived in La Plata, MD since 1960.

He was proud to have served with the United States Marine Corp in WWII and the Korean conflict. He later went on to be a Maryland State Police Trooper for 30 years. After he retired he worked for the Board of Education in security for 10 years.

Jack was actively involved in his community and church throughout his life. He enjoyed being a member of the Charles County Senior Show Troupe through the Richard Clark Senior Center for many years. Until his illness, he could often be seen walking through La Plata early in the morning greeting everyone he met. He also loved his family camping trips. Jack looked forward to each Sunday, being a Greeter and Usher at his church, The Worship Center, in Bryans Road. He loved attending the Men's Fellowship meetings and being involved in all of the activities. He was well known for his jokes and humor. Jack was a man who loved his Lord and his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mildred F. Davis; his son, Rev. Dr. Steve Davis and his wife Linda; his daughter, Carol Davis; his 4 grandchildren - Katie Haile (husband John), Amy Coulby (husband Aaron), Melissa Stuebing (husband David), and Casey Davis; his 2 great-grandchildren, Bryce & Brenden Haile. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Joe and John Thurman Davis and sisters, "Fisher" and Sue.

Jack's family expresses gratitude to the incredible staff of First In Quality Care for their dedication, attention, care, and love they gave to Jack over the past several years.

His viewing will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5pm - 7pm with the Memorial Service at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel. The Graveside Service will be Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30am at Trinity Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his church, The Worship Center, P.O.
