John Frederick Fuchs, 93, of Hollywood, MD passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 11, 2015. Born February 21, 1922 in Guthrie, Minnesota he was the son of the late Arnold and Barbara Fuchs.

He is survived by his beloved wife Melva Hamrick Fuchs; children, Richard Fuchs (Rise) of Oakland, OR, Joe Fuchs (Connie) of Leonardtown MD, Alan Fuchs (Robin) of Mechanicsville MD; stepchildren, Ken Hamrick of North Agusta, SC and Patty Craig (Glen) of Lexington Park, MD; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. John is predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Ruth Fuchs, his brothers, Paul, Lawrence and William, and sister Ruth Cooksey.

John entered the U.S. Navy on September 16, 1942 and was a highly decorated World War II Naval Aviator. His squadron was VP-109, Crew 7, and he served in the Pacific Theater. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening and hunting. He served as a past director of the Farm Bureau and was a superintendent of Sunday School, secretary/treasurer and an Elder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends for John's Life Celebration on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 37707 New Market Turner Rd., Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will take place in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Davis, Jonathan Fuchs, Sr., Michael Fuchs, Kenny Mueller, Robert Mueller and Nicole Fuchs. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessica Fuchs, Jonathan Fuchs, Jr., Seth Christian and Jakob Fuchs. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's Building Fund, 37707 New Market Turner Rd., Mechanicsville, MD 20659 or Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
