Baron Horrace McFarland, affectionately known as "Mack" or "Baby", but most lovingly, "My Boo", was led by the angels to his heavenly rest on Friday, August 21, 2015 while a patient at the University of Maryland – Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. Mack was born September 30, 1943 in Hartsville, South Carolina. He was the 13th child of the late Leila and Townsend McFarland. Mack graduated from Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, South Carolina.
After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. Mack retired from Pepsi Cola after 27 years of service. He then became a distributor for Tastee Kake and Ottenberg Bakery. He met and married Linda Jordan on December 5, 1997 in Alexandria, Virginia and have made their home in Hughesville, Maryland. Mack was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Hazel Young and Bertha McFarland; brothers, Tommy "Mixie", Carey, David, Jimmy, Jobey, James, Cecil, Townsend "Joe, Jr." and Curtis "Sponkey" and stepdaughter, Maxine. Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Linda, of 18 years; his brother, Rev. Jerome McFarland (Laura); his daughters, Alyce and Patricia; son, James; his stepchildren, Timothy Heard, Theordara Heard, Tommy Heard, Levias "Kelsay" McFarland, Crystal McFarland and Anthony Briscoe; his grandchildren, Peace Naomi McFarland and Malachi Khalil McFarland and Goddaughter, Jorita Meredith-Chew. Mack also leaves his sisters-in-law, Theresa Price, Patricia Meredith (Joe), Paula Woodland, Paulette Estep (Herb), Angela Jordan, Catherine McFarland, Margaree McFarland and Mattie McFarland; brothers-in-law, Dale Jordan, Alvin "Buddy" Jordan and 13 step-grandchildren. "Uncle Baby", as called by his most devoted nieces and nephews, will always hold a special place in their memories, especially his nieces Clynette Russell (James), Candace McFarland, Jackie Grant (Greg), Kim McFarland and Tony McFarland (Ruby); cousins, William McDonald (Eleanor) and Barbara Morrison, as well as a host of many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mack was blessed over his lifetime with so many special and caring individuals; especially Sheena Makle, who was his most devoted caregiver. Mack will surely be missed, but the Lord knows best and gave him peaceful rest. Family and friends will unite on Saturday, August 29, 2015 for visitation at 9:00 am until time of service at 10:30 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home (Frances Briscoe Chapel), 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD.
