Debra Karen Bakir, 61, of La Plata, MD died on August 15, 2015 at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. Debra was born July 31, 1954 in Pennsylvania to the late Richard and Peggy O'Dell Snell.

Debra was the Vice President for Bakirs, Inc. a business that she owned and operated along with her husband of 40 years Najib "Mike" Bakir. In 2014 she was the treasurer for Mike's campaign as he was a candidate for Charles County Commissioner on the Republican Party.

Debra was "the best" mother to her four children; William who is in the United States Marine Corp. and his wife Jamie, Daniel who is currently going to college to become a physician, Susan and Christine who is a student at the College of Southern Maryland.

She is also survived by; two grandchildren, Sydney and Adam, a brother who is retired United States Air Force Richard "Rick" Snell, Jr. and his wife Marie and a sister Mona Cole and her husband Cliff who both served in the United States Air Force. Debra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 1:00PM until the time of service at 4:00PM at New Life Wesleyan Chapel, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646. Inurnment will be at a later date at New Life Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
