Blanche Elizabeth Chaput, 91, of La Plata, MD passed away on August 15, 2015 at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville, MD. Blanche was born on October 5, 1923 in Tompkinsville, MD to the late Percy Elmer Dent and the late Blanche Neale Hamilton.

She is also predeceased by her brothers, Frank, Victor and Percy Dent; and her sisters, Agnes, Cecelia and Raye. Blanche is survived by her brother, Leonard Dent; beloved husband, Mederic Chaput, Jr.; son, Robert Collins; daughter, Laura Busch (Jeffrey); six grandsons, Kerry, Thomas and Christopher Collins and Christopher, Eric and Tyler Busch; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Blanche was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning her fresh vegetables and she was a fantastic cook. She was active in her church, volunteering with the Ladies of Charity and embracing her faith. She loved her grandchildren and instilled her Christian values in them. Blanche was a great conversationalist and always had a new joke.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with Prayers beginning at 7:00 PM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, 211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Pt. Rd., Newburg, MD. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
