Kenny Gass, 80, of Avenue, MD, passed away on August 4, 2015 in Charlotte Hall, MD. Born on September 17, 1934 in Abell, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Jeanette Wise Gaseand George Francis Gass. He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Gass and brother James C. Gass.
Kenny was loving husband of the late Margaret Louise Alvey Gass, who in he married in Alamagordo, NM and whom preceded him in death on April 30, 2009. Kenny is survived by his children: Debra Gass, Darlene Taylor (Jim), Dale Gass, Maxine Hynson (Ricky) all of Mechanicsville, MD, Donna Hammett (Johnny), of Chaptico, MD, Vicky Huseman (Franny), of Avenue, MD, Michael Gass (Jennifer) and Ronnie Gass (Teresa) both of Colton's Point, MD, Eddie Alvey (Diane) of Sebastian, FL, 21 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He graduated from Margaret Brent High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1952 to 1960, while serving he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Kenny worked as a Farmer and Heavy Equipment operator and operated his own business. He belong to the American Legion Post 221 in Avenue, MD. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM, followed by American Legion prayers at 7:15PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Father Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Pallbearers will be: Dale Gass, Michael Gass, Ronnie Gass, Eddie Alvey, Jim Taylor, Franny Huseman, Ricky Hynson, and Johnny Hammett. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the 7th Dist. Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609, and Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O.
