Mary Magdaline Adams Jordan (Leanie) was born in Malcolm, Maryland on June 27, 1942 to John Francis Adams and Mary Inez McPherson Adams, who both preceded her in death. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, after a long illness. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by one sister, a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Mary received here education in the Charles County Public Schools. She then attended Bowie State University where she studied Elementary Education. Mary taught in the Charles County Public Schools for 28 years. Over the years, she made a number of friends. Not only was she loved by her colleagues, but her students continued to keep in touch with her even after they were grown, married and had children of their own. Mary had many special friends, and she had a way about her that she made everyone feel as though they were her special friend. Mary married Oswald Jordan, August 22, 1970. They thought that was so nice, they did it twice and reaffirmed their vows 25 years later on August 22, 1995. Mary leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Oswald, 3 brothers: John, Edward, and Francis Adams; 4 sisters: Margie Posey, Clara Mae Thomas, Annie Barbour and Alice Waters: six brothers-in-law: George Thomas, James Barbour, Frank Waters, Cecil and Earl Jordan, Archie Dotson: five sisters-in-law: Gladys and Florence Adams, Louise and Everdeen Jordan and Edna Livingston: and a host of stepchildren. She had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, but, she had a special love for her Great and Great-Great nieces and nephews, along with a host of family and friends. Mary had a number of official and unofficial God-Children and she loved them all. Her viewing will be held from 9:30am until time of service 10:30am on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head, MD 20640.
