Charles "Skippy" Robert Simpson, age 64, of White Plains, MD, died suddenly on June 11, 2015 at Southern MD Hospital Center in Clinton, MD.
Skippy was an Environmental Resources Manager with the Department of Defense (U.S. Government) for 20 plus years and was a 1968 graduate of La Plata High School. He served for 20 years as softball coach of Charles and St. Mary's County Women's League. He had a love for older cars, especially Corvettes. He was known as the life of the party, friend to all, and always helpful with his neighbors. He is the son of the late Joseph Ernest Simpson and the late Rebecca Brock Gamble Simpson. He is survived by his beloved companion, Cynthia Lopez; his daughter, Holly Simpson; his sisters, Carol Ann Farrell and Barbara Gore; and was uncle to Karianne Smith and Wayne Farrell. Friends received on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 5-8PM with Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11AM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Pallbearers: Warren "Bootsie" Johnson, Kevin Ruoff, Justin Kina, Brian Dillow, Eddie Bowles, and Donny Poe and Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Reine and Shawn Rooney. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Bryantown, MD. Memorials are asked to Save the Bay. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
