Dorothy Virginia Cooksey, of La Plata, Maryland died on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Fenwick Landing Senior Living Center in Waldorf, MD. She was 82 years old. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooksey is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Xavier Cooksey and her sister, Linda Lou Bond.

Born on January 29, 1933 in Brandywine, MD she was the daughter of the late Maude Virginia Hyde Cooksey and the late John Brandt Tayman. Mrs. Cooksey was a homemaker and mom who enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, cooking and baking. She was a member of the 2N1 Club at the Clark Senior Center in La Plata.

She is survived by her children Virginia Elaine Dudley and her husband Wayne, Barbara Ann Matthews and her husband Henry, Ronald Francis Cooksey and Ricky Michael Cooksey; her siblings Betty Ann Padgett, Mary Goldsmith, and John Brandt Tayman Jr.; her grandchildren James M. Simpson Jr., David A. Simpson, Jennifer M. Simpson, Jamie E. Parker, Rhonda Watson, Sarah Talbert, Carl M. Cooksey, Rachel Cooksey, Stephanie Moore; her great grandchildren twins Alyssa R. Simpson and McKenna D. Simpson, Megan E. Simpson, Alexis M. Collins, Brennan P. Simpson, Trevor M. Simpson, Trenton M. Parker, Nathan M. Parker, Travis M. Parker, Logan Watson, Juliana Watson, Madison Cooksey, Landon Cooksey, Annabelle Talbert and Luke Talbert Jr.

Visitation on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 beginning at 12:30PM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers are Jimmy Simpson, David Simpson, Carl Cooksey, Mike Parker, Luke Talbert, and Kent Cooksey.
