Betty Carol Coates Locks of Waldorf, Maryland died after a short illness on April 3, 2008 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. She was 48 years old.

She was born on August 31, 1959 to Irene Edna ("Kitty") and the late Charles H. Neal Sr. She was educated in the Charles County Public School system. Betty Carol was employed as a health care provider with the Charles County Health Department. She loved spending time with her family but her favorite pastime was Bingo, playing cards, especially poker and the slots.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother Calvin E. & one sister Mary A.

Along with her mother Kitty, Betty Carol is survived by her husband Francis ("Socks") Locks; seven children Zatisha M., Frederick J., Lakeshia V., Dale A., Shanetta C., Ronald A. And James I. Coates; one sister Gail M. (Daisy); three brothers Russell W. (Shelia), Edward S. & John E. Coates; numerous grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 9:30AM until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church 13705 Notre Dame Place Bryantown, MD 20617 with Father Joseph Kleinstuber officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenneth Toye, Ronald Toye, Emmanuel E. Brown, Kenny Holland, Brandon and Leslie T. Gordon. Honorary Pallbearers are John A. Chase, Andrew J. Chase, Kenneth Knight, William M. Harley, Christopher Cooper, and Joseph W. Cooper.
