William Henry Schrom III, of Huntingtown, MD died on March 26, 2008 at the Washington Hospital Center from complications of diabetes. Bill was born on January 23, 1950 in Cheverly. He was preceded in death by both of his parents William H. Schrom, Jr. and Ruth Eleanor Gruber Schrom.

Bill is survived by his sisters, Roberta C. Schrom of Reston, VA and Barbara A. Brady and her husband Frank of Huntingtown; his nieces Amy L. Macey of Delmar, DE and Jennifer A. Brady of Huntingtown, three great nephews, Matthew, Joshua, Nathaniel and one great-niece Sarah Macey; and his cats Smokey, Spooky and Lady Cat and other pets on the farm.

Bill acquired a distinct love of farming from his parents. He worked for many years farming throughout Calvert County. He continued farming while he worked for the Maryland Tobacco Growers Association and the Ro-Gro Fertilizer Company. He later worked as a realtor and a broker.

Bill's dedication to his family and farm was deep, but his greatest achievement and passion was with the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. Bill was a charter member since 1972 and to date was the only member to hold the rank of both Chief and President. According to the HVFD, Bill played an instrumental part in the foundation, development and future of the Fire Department in Huntingtown. He also served on the Fire Board for Calvert County and many county organizations. His work in the department and county was phenomenal.
