After a lengthy illness, on Thursday, March 20, 2008, Alfred Leon Clark, Sr., affectionately known as Lee or Leon, quietly departed this life for one eternal. Leon was born on January 6, 1948 in Mt. Victoria, MD and was the son of the late Agnes M. and the late Thomas J. Clark.

Leon was educated in the Charles County Public School System and attended La Plata, High School. He was employed by the Charles County Board of Education as a Truck Driver. During his tenure, he received numerous awards and had outstanding performances for many years. He retired in 1999 after 31 years of service. Leon and his family were members of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. They attended regularly until the family moved to LaPlata, MD.

Leon was truly a family man. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He adored his wife, whom he affectionately called Cassoline. They would have celebrated 38 years of marriage. Leon enjoyed cookouts with his parents (when they were living) and other family members. He also participated in the January/February Birthday Club and was very proud of his late model Ford truck. He will be most remembered for being a loving and passionate husband, father and grandfather who was a sharp dresser and had a love for stylish hats.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Juanita Washington Clark, Barbara A. Hayes, and Sharon Smothers.

In addition to his wife Regina, he is also survived by his children Leon Reginald Clark, 2nd and Claudine Neischette Clark, grandchildren, Shakina R. Frink, Reginald Leon Parker, 3rd, Kanishea Shanell Parker, LeAnna Ieshi Parker, Andre LaMarr Parker, sister, Agnes Catherine Chase, brothers, James A. and Thomas C. Clark, aunts, Blanche Hill, Elizabeth Clark and Dorothy Wells, uncle, James Hilton, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John W. Smothers, sisters-in-law, Annie Cecelia Clark, Gladys M. Smothers, Emma Jean Bumbry Jones, D. Lorriane Smothers, Mary M. Smothers Bumbry, M. Alice Smothers, Gloria Smothers Minor, Georgia M. Smothers and Cynthia L. Smothers, three brothers-in-law, John W. Smothers, Jr., Wayne E. Smothers, Ernest L. Smothers, Caryle Chase, and a host of faithful friends who were very supportive during his illness, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

His viewing will take place on Thursday, March 27th, 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home, Rte. 227, Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD and on Friday, March 28th, 10:00a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 11:00a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Issue, MD. Interment Church Cemetery.
