Stevan Edward Charnock Jr., a life-long resident of Southern Maryland died unexpectedly on January 5, 2015 at the age of 38.

He is survived by his parents, Stevan Charnock Sr. and Carol Charnock; his younger brothers, Tommy and Marc; his nephews, Tommy and Caleb; and a myriad of friends and loved ones.

Stevie was born on September 22, 1976 in Washington, DC as the first of 3 children. There was nothing Stevie liked more than taking care of everyone. He lived life with the attitude that "Everything was better with a friend" and made an effort to make everyone feel welcomed and included. He was always ready with a hug or a helping hand or even just a smile. He has been described as a giant teddy bear and although he had great strength, he was much more comfortable getting on the ground and coloring with whatever 2 year old happened to be playing in the room. He was never able to say no, and took on every task with his trademark smile and jovial nature. It didn't matter if it was as small as making a grocery run for a sick friend or as large as moving a piano, he was only a phone call away. Whether you knew him as Pokey-bubba, Simba, "No Brakes", Stevie, or his latest incarnation as Uncle Bucko, he left an indelible mark on you and your life.

Stevie served many roles in life from son, to big brother, to uncle, to protector, to child's jungle gym and cherished them all. His legacy will be one of caring, loyalty, and selflessness to the highest degree. He lives on in our hearts and minds and we know he is watching over us all. Although he is no longer here in person, should he be needed he is only a prayer away. Heaven gained the perfect guardian angel with Stevie.

There will be a viewing at Raymond's Funeral Home in La Plata on Sunday January 11, 2015 from 3-6pm with a prayer service to be held at 5pm.

The Funeral will occur on Monday January 12,2015 at 11am at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf, with a time for remembrance beginning at 10:30am should you want to share your memories of Stevie or just to hear others retell their memories. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens following the funeral.

We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Stevie's name to the Port Tobacco Players Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 2030 La Plata, Maryland 20646. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
