Marjorie Frances Earnshaw Farrall, 86, of La Plata, Maryland, died March 18, 2008, at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, Maryland.
She was born April 12, 1921, in Brandywine, Maryland to the late Pinkney Andrew Earnshaw, Sr. and Bertha Mary Rees Earnshaw. She graduated from Surratsville High School in 1937 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mary Washington College in Fredericksbug, Virginia in 1941. After graduation she taught at Surratsville Elementary School from 1941 to 1945. She was married December 16, 1942, to the late Leo K. Farrall, Jr.. Marjorie and Leo were partners both at home and in business. In 1956, they, along with Patrick C. Mudd, founded the "Foodland Grocery Store" on Charles Street in LaPlata, Maryland. They ran this successful business together until 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo K. Farrall, Jr. in 2003, and her son, Leo K. Farrall, III in 1997. She is survived by her daughters, Linda F. Clark and her husband, Craig, of Solomons, MD., Marsha F. Buckley and her husband, Michael, of Norman, OK., and her daughter-in-law Judith S. Farrall of LaPlata, MD.; ten grandchildren, Kimmel Konka, Kyle Farrall, Cassie Brennan, Britt Farrall, Craig Clark, Jr., Jocelyn Clark, Summer Hughes, Erin Smith, Kathleen Buckley, Christopher Buckley; six great-grandchildre, McKenzie and Jake Konka, Craig and Alexander Clark, and William and Clark Hughes; and sister, Ellen E. Blandford. Marjorie was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, as well as spending time in her garden. She was an active member of the Charles County Garden Club for several years. Marjorie had an affinity for music having minored in music in college. After raising her three children, Marjorie spent much time on the golf course enjoying many afternoon rounds with friends at the Hawthorne County Club She enjoyed needlepoint and reading, and in her later years she took joy in spending time with her great-grandchildren, always adoring the energy and smiles they brought her way. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 25, from 4-7 pm at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, LaPlata. Services will be on Wednesday, March 26, at 11 am at St. Ignatius Church, Chapel Point. Burial will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery of St. Ignatius Church, Chapel Point. Monsignor Oliver McGready will officiate. Pallbearers will be Richard C. Baldus, Craig E. Clark, Jr., Travis J. Hughes, Van T. Mitchell, David Simmons, and Gary T. Vaughan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association/Greater Washington Chapter P.O. Box 1889 LaPlata, MD. 20646.
