James David Hanson, 51, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1963 in Washington D.C. to James Hanson and Janice (Cauley) Sobczyk.

David was raised in Calvert County and attended Northern High School. He was employed as a car salesman, working in various dealerships. David moved to Florida in 1998 and returned to Calvert County in 2010 after an accident that left him a quadriplegic. He was a resident of the Calvert County Nursing Center for almost two years.

David enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins, the Washington Nationals and NASCAR. He also loved animals, cars, especially classics and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family and friends, always telling jokes and making them laugh.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Janice and John Sobczyk. David is survived by his father and step-mother James and Paula Hanson of Owings, sisters Shelley Polko and husband John, Sherry Dennison and husband Dink and Shirley Posten, all of Huntingtown, and a brother Christian Hanson and his wife Suzi of Oklahoma. Also surviving are a daughter Samantha Baker and husband Billy of Lusby, grandmother Genevieve Jezisek of Alexandria, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pall bearers will be Christian Hanson, John Polko, Dink Dennison, Logan Polko, Brayden Hanson and Bryan Williams. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home.
