Vernon Pugh, Jr., 70, of California, MD died October 23, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 9, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA Vernon is the son of Lessie Merrell Pugh of Lexington Park, MD and the late Vernon Pugh, Sr.

Vernon served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to his honorable discharge in 1966. He was employed for over 40 years by the Federal Government as an aerial photographer and was known for his dedication to his craft.

On November 10, 1966, he married his beautiful bride, Peggy Yoshiye Oishi Pugh. They would have been married 48 wonderful years November 10th.

He enjoyed going to car shows, watching NASCAR, and was an outstanding handy man, lovingly known by his family and friends as a jack of all trades. He was also known by all for his charm, wit, and willingness to help anyone. He especially loved to visit his four treasured grandchildren in Tennessee.

In addition to his wife, Junior is survived by his sons, Darren K. Pugh of California, MD and Jason M. Pugh (Tassie) of Mt. Juliet, TN, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Pugh, Sr.

A Celebration of Life service will be officiated by Reverend Meredith Wilkins Arnold on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Solomons United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 14454 Solomons Island Road South, Solomons, MD 20688. Interment will be private. The family requests colorful attire to celebrate Junior's life.
