Charles Michael Donaldson, Sr., of Bryans Road, Maryland, formerly of Accokeek, MD, died on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He was 77 years old.

Born on August 8, 1937 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Gladys Jenkins-Ramsey and the late Leonard Francis Donaldson. Mr. Donaldson served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1957. He then worked as a plumber at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. He enjoyed NASCAR, flounder fishing and crabbing with his sons, brothers, and grandsons. He also enjoyed taking care of his beloved dog Romeo.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Donaldson was preceded in death by his son Charles "Chucky" Ball; his granddaughters Shantell Turner, Victoria Harms, and Shyanne Ryan; his sisters Alice Lombardo and Louise Powell; his brothers Leroy Donaldson, Johnny Donaldson, Walter Donaldson, and Albert Donaldson.

He is survived by his daughters Charlene "Michelle' Donaldson and Wendy Burnett Kurtz and her husband Steve; his sons Charles Michael "Mike" Donaldson Jr. and his wife Karen, Leonard Walter "Tootie" Donaldson and his wife Jill, Richard Clark Ball, and David Stuart Ball and his wife Cheryl; his sisters Daisy Richardson, Rosie Hashman, and Peanut Chadwick; his brothers Tommy Donaldson and Hank Donaldson; also survived by his eight grandchildren, Justin Ball, April Payne, Michael Donaldson, Cruz Ryan, Lisa Donaldson-Gray, Kyle Donaldson, Maddy and Lexi Kurtz and his nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, Dillon, Josh, Alexis, Sophie, Lewie, Hailey and Hayden.

Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 11AM to 2PM at the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department 16111 Livingston Rd Accokeek, MD 20607 with a time of remembrance beginning at 11:30AM.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
