Growing Interest in Adding In-Law Suites

There is growing interest with homeowners to consider a first-floor remodeling addition of a master in-law suite. Towne Craft Builders recently completed an 870 square foot ground floor expansion to a single-family detached residence in St. Mary’s county. Nationwide, there is an increasing number of individuals searching on Google, Yahoo, etc. for “mother in-law suite,” “multi-generational living,” etc. Towne Craft indicates there were many architectural considerations for this soon-to-be-occupied "father in-law suite." There has to be a balance between privacy and easy accessibility to the rest of the house, says Stu Garlington, president, Towne Craft. For a full "before" and "after" image tour, click here.

Monitoring the Future of Maryland:

An on-line survey of highway safety issues is now open for public input The annual survey of Maryland residents about their concerns and attitudes toward traffic safety will begin on Wednesday, July 1. This on-line, anonymous survey will be available to all Marylanders through August 12th. Residents can take the survey by logging onto http://www.marylanddriversurvey.com. The survey takes just 15–20 minutes to complete. This survey of local community traffic issues was developed by the University of Maryland for Maryland’s Department of Transportation, Maryland State Highway Administration’s Safety Office. It is part of an ongoing effort to monitor public beliefs, concerns, and behaviors of Maryland motorists regarding traffic safety issues, especially at the local level.
