Schoolhouse Rock! The timeless collection of animated songs that taught an entire generation that "knowledge is power" comes LIVE to Southern Maryland! No matter what your age, you’ll be taken back to childhood Saturday mornings and see School House Rock brought to life.  This live stage production features songs like “I'm Just A Bill,” “Three Is A Magic Number,” “Lolly Lolly,” “Interjections!” and the rest of your favorite School House Rock tunes.

Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved Schoolhouse Rock songs as “Conjunction Junction,” “Do the Circulation” and “Zero My Hero.”  This show features more than 20 kids from across the Southern Maryland region as well as a very talented adult cast, and is a sure hit for your whole family. Every generation will enjoy School House Rock Live!

MEET THE CAST OF "SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK LIVE!"

Paul Rose

Paul is a newcomer to the Patuxent Playhouse. Having been very active in the Great Mills High School drama club when he was younger, his wife Ann encouraged him to experience theater life with their son Lovell, and daughter Madeline, both of whom are in this production. Paul commutes from his home in Leonardtown, MD to his job as a Research Historian at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.

He would like to dedicate his performance to the memory of his mother, Nancy Rose.

Kelli Harbin

This is Kelli’s first performance with Patuxent Playhouse and first time on stage in a long time. Kelli grew up in a very musical family; her Mother was a music teacher and her Father a professional trumpet player. Kelli is very proud of her fellow cast mate and daughter Kaitlin for all of her musical and academic accomplishments this year and thanks Kaitlin for giving her that extra push to audition for School House Rock! Kelli would like to dedicate her performance to her husband John for supporting her exploration back into this world of performing!

Montario Hill

Montario Hill is a young musician led by passion and fire for the craft of song. He has had much love for music since his early ages. He was involved in all choral music courses during high school and earned many scholarships to Morgan State University At Morgan, his passion and love for music grew to a deeper and wider level. Not only did he perform Classical and Opera but he tapped into Gospel, R&B, and Jazz Upon his many encounters with the choir, He has worked with greats such as Dr. Nathan Carter, Bobby McFerrin, Wynton Marsalis, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Take 6, and the incomparable Quincy Jones. After a successful graduation, he used his musical talents to teach young high school students about the gift of music While teaching, he realized that he was also an arranger and songwriter. He began to write songs that spoke to his heart. With influences such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Gerald Levert, John Legend, Usher, and Luther Vandross, he soon developed a sound that was his own. His unique vocal tone and his fuse of Pop, R&B, and Gospel set him on a different path for success. He plans to continue in the legacy of the great singers that went before him. Montario Hill is the new voice that is heard round the world.

Jennifer Youngerman

This is Jennifer's first performance. with Paxtuxent Playhouse. She attributes her love of music and the performing arts to her father. Jennifer has always wanted to be in a play and decided this was the year to step out and go for it. This past spring she had a role in the local performance of "The Passion of Christ". She is a part time GED instructor with Calvert County's Adult Education program and is also full time "soccer, etc." mom to her three children. She would like to dedicate her performance to her husband, Roger, and to Mitchell, Austin & Gabriele.

Rick Harding

This is Rick's second performance with Patuxent Playhouse. His first role with us was in our very popular production in 2008 of "Godspell". He comes to us from Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he enjoys singing in the choir. As part of the Mt. Zion UMC's drama ministries, he has performed in several dinner theaters including: "The Mystery at Montley's Manor", "The Conundrum on the Crackerjack Cruise", and "And So They Had None".

Rick is married to his wonderful wife Kellie and they have an ever-growing 12 year old son, Seth. He would like to thank them both for their continued love and support; without which, he would never have the confidence to spread his wings and soar.

Holly Garren

This is Holly's second production with Patuxent Playhouse though she is no stranger to performing. her most recent performance was in "Story Theater". Holly also has many years of tap and ballet dancing experience dating back to when she was only 4 years old! She is currently a student at Patuxent High School.

Holly would like to thank her family, especially her Mom, and also thank her friend Samantha (a.k.a. Tuesday) "for always being there for me."

Jack Reynolds

Jack has been a regular with Patuxent Playhouse for the past 12 years now. He started out in 1996 when he took over a vacated role in "Godspell" with only 2 days to learn the part! Ever since he has been involved in one way or another with almost every production we have done since. Whether acting, directing, serving on tech crews, set building, graphic design or sometimes, all of the above, he has been a valuable asset to us.

Jack was appointed to the Patuxent Playhouse Board Of Directors in November of 2000, and is currently serving as our President.

Abigail Reynolds

Abbi is a very talented young actress from a "Drama Filled Family". This is her third performance with Patuxent Playhouse after her roles in "Husbands and Wives Revisited" and "The Moment". She has also performed in our youth drama camps and in her school's drama productions. Her other passion is singing, and she recently was promoted to Chopticon High School's "Divas".

Alexis McKamey

While this is Alexis’ first performance with Patuxent Playhouse, she is no stranger to performing. She appeared in her middle school play, she is a member of Chopticon High School’s Choral Program as a Diva and she has been a competitive cheerleader for many years. Alexis enjoys school and is excited to be a part of this play. Alexis would like to thank her mom, dad and sisters for their support.

Kaitlin Harbin

Kaitlin has been singing for as long as she can remember. Some of her past experience includes roles in Willie Wonka Jr., The Music Man, and A Tribute to Disney. Kaitlin’s most memorable onstage moment was when she was invited to sing on stage with Country Singer Gretchen Wilson. Kaitlin is 12 years old and will be a 7th grader at Calvert Middle this coming fall. When Kaitlin is not performing she enjoys spending time with her friends, dancing, swimming, and texting! Kaitlin would like to thank her Mom and Dad for supporting her dreams.

ABOUT PATUXENT PLAYHOUSE:

Since 1989 Patuxent Playhouse has been entertaining audiences across Southern Maryland as one of the oldest non-profit community theater groups in the area. Our goal will always be to provide quality family entertainment, but what sets us apart is our relationship with community members and other non-profit organizations in our area. We provide our stage productions as fund raising events and lend our resources to others in need of support.
