The Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland (HRASM) provides networking, educational, advisory and training opportunities to HR professionals in Southern Maryland. HRASM is a tri-county organization with over 100 members from a variety of businesses and government agencies. Membership is open to those with a genuine interest in the human resources profession and in HRASM's mission. There shall be no discrimination in individual memberships because of race, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or any other protected factor. A low annual membership fee of $20 opens the door to a beneficial professional network. You can take advantage of professional development, training and opportunities for leadership; networking opportunities at meetings and a membership directory; advance notice of meetings and seminars with dates, times and topics; minutes from meetings you may have missed to keep you informed; quarterly newsletters; and reduced luncheon fees.

Membership offers regional educational, networking & leadership opportunities, certification, and much more. We are Charles County Chamber members, participate in various community events, and have speakers at monthly meetings every third Tuesday at the State Police Barracks in La Plata, MD on Rt. 301. Networking starts @ 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

The Society of Engineers and Scientists (SES) was formed in 1961 to establish a network between the engineers of the different divisions and directorates at Patuxent River. The organization was to provide a means for engineers and scientists to exchange ideas and ideals. Even today, the group is not affiliated with any specific national organization because independence allows the SES to conform to local needs of the professional staff. The Society's goals are to provide: a vehicle through which members can assist with recruiting; an atmosphere fostering higher retention of professionals; a system for technology transfer through the use of in-house speakers; a system for updating and broadening professional knowledge by providing inside and outside guest speakers; a social setting to meet other professionals working at Patuxent River.
