The Maryland Natural Resources Police continue to investigate a boating accident that claimed the lives of two Arlington men and sent a third to the hospital. On Friday, June 16, at 9:15 p.m. NRP responded to a report of a boat circling in the Potomac River, south of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge, with no one onboard. One survivor was pulled from the water that night and the bodies of two missing men were recovered Saturday afternoon, June 17. NRP Continue Investigation of St. Clement Bay Boat Accident The Maryland Natural Resources Police continue to investigate a boating accident that occurred Sunday, June 18, at 11:03 p.m. in St. Clement Bay near St. Clement Shores. The accident occurred when an 18-foot boat struck a pound net. A 10-year old boy sustained injuries to his head and was flown to Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington D.C. NRP Continue Investigation of Neale Sound Boat Accident The Maryland Natural Resources Police continue to investigate a boating accident that occurred Monday, June 19, at 1:12 a.m., in Neale Sound, near Cobb Island. James L. Saunders, 53; Keith D. Campbell, 47; and Robert W. Tucker, 45, all of Cobb Island were injured when the 18-foot boat they were traveling in struck a metal speed zone sign. Maryland State Police MEDAVAC flew Saunders to Prince George’s Hospital Center and Campbell and Tucker to Suburban Hospital. The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). With an authorized strength of 280 officers and a dedicated staff of civilian and volunteer personnel, the NRP provide a variety of services in addition to conservation and boating law enforcement duties throughout the State of Maryland. These services include homeland security, search and rescue, emergency medical services, education, information and communications services on a round the clock basis. NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction. |
