LA PLATA, Md. (January 21, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

Police are looking for this man, Eugene "Tony" Moten, 35, of Washington, D.C., in connection with the Jan. 10 armed robbery of a woman on White Fir Court in Waldorf. A reward is being offered.

CCSO DETECTIVES IDENTIFY ROBBERY SUSPECT/REWARD OFFERED FOR SUSPECT'S ARREST: Charles County Sheriff's detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division have obtained an arrest warrant charging Eugene "Tony" Moten, 35, of Washington, D.C., in connection with the Jan. 10 armed robbery of a woman on White Fir Court in Waldorf. During the robbery, Moten disguised himself as a UPS worker and approached the victim. He displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and Moten fled. A police K-9 team responded to the scene and conducted a track. Evidence was recovered and Moten was subsequently linked to the crime. An arrest warrant is on file charging Moten with armed robbery and first-degree assault. Moten is 5'10, 230 lbs., and goes by the nickname of Tony. He has several addresses in Washington, D.C.

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Feb. 21 at 7:37 a.m., officers responded to the area of Drury Drive in La Plata for the report of a stabbing. Investigation showed the victim and suspect had been engaged in an argument while on a bus. When they exited the bus at Drury Drive, they got into a physical altercation during which the suspect pulled a pocket knife and stabbed the victim. The victim, age 30, was flown to a hospital where he was admitted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, Raymond Winfield Rison, Jr., 25, of no fixed address, was apprehended a short distance away. A computer check revealed Rison had open warrants with the Calvert County Sheriff's Office. He was served the arrest warrants and is being detained in Calvert County. Criminal charges will be filed in this case. The victim and Rison are known to each other.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: On Feb. 20 at 7:09 p.m., PFC M. Hancock responded to the report of suspicious activity that occurred near a school bus stop earlier in the morning. The investigation revealed two 12-year-old girls were walking to their bus stop on Macclesfield Court in Waldorf sometime between 7:50 and 8:10 a.m. when they noticed a vehicle following them. The vehicle stopped when the girls reached the bus stop and the driver opened the door and called the girls over to his car while making an obscene gesture. The girls ignored the man, who then fled the neighborhood toward Leonardtown Road. The man was described as a dark-complexioned black male between 20 and 30 years of age. He had a beard and his eyebrows were described as “bushy.” The vehicle was described as a silver Dodge or Chrysler sedan with tinted windows. BURGLARY ATTEMPT: On Feb. 20 at 5:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 11700 block of Glen Abbey Court in Waldorf for the reported burglary attempt. The investigation revealed a resident heard a loud noise come from the back residence, went to investigate and discovered a boot print on the back door. Officers, including a K9 team, canvassed the area but did not locate any suspects. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the CCSO at 301-932-7777 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment. Officer J. Fromme is investigating.

BURGLARY ARREST: On Feb. 20 at 5:17 p.m., detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were in the area of Ell Lane in Waldorf searching for James Lee Rudd, Jr., 24, who lives in the area and was wanted for a burglary that occurred Feb. 7 on Gatwick Court in Waldorf. When a detective saw Rudd walking in the area, Rudd ran away toward nearby Old Line Center. Officers and detectives established a perimeter around Old Line Center and apprehended Rudd shortly thereafter. Rudd was served the warrant for first- and fourth-degree burglary and theft valued between $10,000 and $100,000 and was also charged with fleeing and eluding police. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Detectives are investigating Rudd’s connection to other recent burglaries.

ROBBERY ATTEMPT: On Feb. 20 at 4:39 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a VanGO bus stop at the corner of Marshal Corner Road and Tempo Place in Pomfret for the reported robbery attempt. The investigation revealed the suspect approached the victim, a 17-year-old Brandywine male, after the victim exited a bus. The suspect initiated a conversation with the victim and then demanded the victim’s shoes. The victim refused and the suspect began beating him. The victim tried to escape but the suspect continued the assault. The victim removed his shoes and the suspect took them and ran down nearby Great Oaks Place. An unidentified citizen who was driving by stopped his vehicle and chased the suspect, who dropped the victim’s shoes but managed to escape. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Civista Medical Center for treatment. The suspect was described as a light-complexioned black male about 6 feet tall and between 170 and 180 pounds. He had a full, dark beard and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue and white hooded sweatshirt over a gray hooded sweatshirt. DRUG POSSESSION: On Feb. 20 at 9:52 a.m., PFC M. DePaulo of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s School Resource Unit was at Mattawoman Middle School in Waldorf when he received a report that two students were in possession of marijuana. Officer DePaulo recovered the marijuana from the two students, 13-year-old girls, and further investigation led to the identity of a third student, a 14-year-old boy, who had brought the marijuana to the school and sold it to the two girls. The girls were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and the boy was charged with drug distribution and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. They were released to their respective parents.

HANDGUN THEFT: On Feb. 19 at 12:41 p.m., PFC R. Bagley responded to Southern Wheel and Cap located at 2564 Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the reported theft. The investigation revealed suspect(s) stole a handgun from a storage unit sometime after Feb. 1, 2010. The gun was described as a Rossi brand, Model 88, .38-caliber revolver with a two-inch stainless steel barrel.
