LA PLATA, Md. (March 28, 2010) -- Deven Rachar Blackshear, 31, of Waldorf, died Saturday after his 2009 Ducati motorcycle struck a minivan, went airborn and then struck an oncoming Chevrolet HHR compact wagon. Blackshear was transported to Baltimore Shock Trama via Trooper 2 helicopter where he died of serious head trama and a broken neck, according to police.

Police cite speed as the determining factor in the accident.

The accident happened at approximately 5:44 p.m. on MD Route 301, north of MD Route 5 in Waldorf.

Police say Blackshear was traveling northbound on Route 301 when he struck the side of a 2005 Blue Chrysler Town & Country which was traveling across his lanes of travel. The minivan was driven by Abigail Jaye Nabors, 33, of Waldorf. Two-year-old Gamon Nabors was a passenger in the minivan.

Blackshear and his motorcycle became airborn after striking the minivan and collided with a 2008 Silver Chevrolet HHR driving southbound on Route 301 just north of Route 228. The HHR was driven by Shaquoy Yvette Morris, 16, of King George, Va. Yvette Linda Morris, 46, was a passenger in the HHR.

Ms. Nabors and the child were both flown to Children's Hospital via Trooper 2. Ms. Nabors had facial injuries and the child had unknown injuries, say police.

Neither of the Morrises were injured or transported.

The accident was investigated by the Maryland State Police, La Plata Barrack.
