Posted on Volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office served food and drinks, cleaned tables and shared information about Special Olympics with restaurant guests. Citizens offered the volunteers $6,000 in tips, which will all be donated to support Special Olympics athletes. Another $1,385 was raised by selling T-shirts and hats for the upcoming Torch Run, a series of relays which carry the Flame of Hope across Maryland and converge at the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Summer Games. “I want to thank all the citizens who joined us for Cops and Lobsters and helped us raise such a significant amount of money for the athletes of Special Olympics,” said Sheriff Rex Coffey. “I am grateful to Red Lobster, which has participated in this fund-raiser with us for about a decade, and I am also very proud of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office who donated their time to support such a worthy cause. Charles County is clearly a generous community.” Return to Headline News
