Nanjemoy Woman in Critical Condition After Vehicle Accident

On Dec. 29 at 11:17 a.m., a Toyota Corolla driven by Raynell Joyce Washington, 46, of Nanjemoy was traveling south in the 5500 block of Smallwood Church Road in Indian Head at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Washington sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center. She was later flown to MedStar in Washington, D.C., where she is said to be in critical condition. Cpl. S. Burrows of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating the crash.
