Lexington Park Man Dies in Single Car Crash

On 12-15-2005 at 2137, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Deputies investigated a single vehicle collision on Point Lookout Road .04 tenths of a mile south of Adkins Road in Great Mills. Witnesses report that the driver of a 1985 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Point Lookout road and failed to drive in a single lane then exited the right side of the roadside. Once off the roadway the vehicle struck a tree head on causing severe damage to the vehicle and causing fatal injuries to himself. There was no one else in the vehicle. Alcohol and driver error are believed to be contributing factors in the collision. Gary S. Hardesty Sr., Age 46 of Lexington Park, Maryland died at scene. He was the owner of the vehicle.
