Icy Road Claims 2 Lives on Hollywood Road


On 01/29/05 at 2209 Hours Deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident on Hollywood Road near Dorsey Park, Hollywood, Maryland. Investigation revealed Denis Gerald Tri, age 37, of Solomon's, Maryland was operating a 1996 Lexis S30 Northbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice covered roadway, crossed the center line, and was struck by a 1986 Dodge, operating southbound, by Charles D. Woodburn, of Leonardtown, Maryland.

Mr. Tri was pronounced deceased on the scene. A passenger in Mr. Tri's vehicle, Tricia K. Goken, Solomon's, Maryland was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where she died a short time later. Mr. Woodburn was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The primary cause of the accident was icy roads. Speed or alcohol was not a contributing factor in the accident.

Denis Tri, who served his country in the Navy for years as a test pilot and later a test pilot instructor, was currently aide to Admiral Walter “Wally” Massenburg at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
