Calvert Police Deal With Destruction, Drugs & DUI


Destruction of Property

On January 11th, 2005 at 4:41pm, Dfc Denton responded to the 700 block of Crazy Horse Trail, Lusby, Md. for a reported destruction of property. He met with the victim who advised unknown suspect(s) shot two windows with a B-B gun. There are no suspects at this time.

Destruction of Property

On January 15th, 2005 at 4:05pm, Dfc Denton responded to the KFC located at 65 West Dares Beach, Rd. Prince Frederick, Md. Investigation revealed unknown person(s) scratched the victim's vehicle with an unknown object. The damage occurred while the vehicle was parked in the KFC parking lot. There are no suspects at this time.

CDS Violation

On January 18th, 2005 at 7:50pm, Deputy Milam conducted a traffic stop in the area of Calvert Beach Rd. and Md Rt 2/4 in St. Leonard, Md. As he made contact with the driver he detected a strong odor of suspected burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. He conducted a search of the vehicle and found a partially burnt hand rolled cigarette containing suspected marijuana, a baggie containing suspected marijuana and a tin can containing five partially burnt hand rolled cigarettes containing suspected marijuana. Based on his findings, Deputy Milam placed Ashley Nicole Hollins, 20 years old of St. Leonard, Md. under arrest for possession of CDS. She was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

CDS Violation

On January 20th, 2005 at 4:06am, Deputy Ward responded to Southern Pine Lane, Port Republic, Md. for a suspicious vehicle that had driven off the roadway. He located the vehicle in a wooded area just off the road. The driver was in the vehicle and was unresponsive. Deputy Ward was able to wake the driver who said he was not hurt and did not know how his vehicle got into the woods. Deputy Ward detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. Based on observations made at the scene, the driver was placed under arrest for DUI. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic cigarette book wrapper containing suspected crack cocaine. Charles B. Snyder Jr., 37 years old of Lusby, Md. was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with DUI and Possession of CDS.

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office arrested the following people for DUI this week.

January 20th, 2005-Joe F. Hill-64 yoa by Cpl Moschetto

January 21st, 2005-Derrick W. Shelor-21 yoa by Dep. Ward

January 21st, 2005-Allen T. Goldsmith-43 yoa by Cpl Moschetto

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office has made 26 DUI arrests to date.
