In 1882, the first Christmas tree was lit by the use of electricity. Edward Johnson lighted up a Christmas tree in New York City with eighty small electric light bulbs.

Garden In Lights
Website Pics from Last Year
Annmarie Garden, Solomons, MD
December 8, 2006 - January 1, 2007 @ 6 pm - 9 pm

Garden In Lights is an annual custom-created, drive-through holiday light show opening the evening of December 8th. Garden In Lights will run nightly, 6:00 - 9:00 pm until January 1st. Garden In lights is weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, call the hotline at 410-326-4640 for information on closings. Garden in Lights will be closed on December 24th.

The talented staff of Annmarie Garden will be working diligently in their holiday workshop to create one-of-a-kind light sculptures and decorations for this year's event. Themed areas will transform the Garden into a magical drive-through display. Back by popular demand will be the "Holiday I Spy" game. Each area will have several hidden decorations for visitors to find. A program listing the hidden elements (and perhaps a clue!) will be provided for each car.

Decorating the Garden takes over a month and requires the help of an electrician, volunteers, and even a few generous elves from the Calvert Marine Museum. There is a suggested donation of $5.00 per car. Anyone donating the full $5.00 will receive a pass that will allow unlimited visits during the three week event. Don't miss the most magical holiday event in southern Maryland!
