A community service organization made up of about fourteen organization including the Optimist Club, an American Legion Post, several churches and others. ACTS provides in-home medical equipment, at no charge, to residents of St. Mary's County. Anyone needing equipment (e.g. hospital beds, wheel chairs, walkers, crutches, canes, etc.) is eligible to borrow.

Health Share is a non-profit program which identifies low income individuals and families who cannot afford medical care. Health Share seeks to provide health care at a very minimal cost to those who are eligible.

Many medical drug manufacturers offer programs to help low-income citizens obtain their prescription drugs at a reduced price. You can use RxAssist to search by drug name or company name in order to find more information about any available assistance programs. A simple registration is required.

RxAssist was created by Volunteers in Health Care (VIH), a national resource center for safety net organizations. VIH operates out of the Brown University Center for Primary Care and Prevention, based at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, a Brown Medical School teaching and research facility located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

WARNING: No legitimate pharmaceutical manufacturer is going to charge you a fee to join their program. Beware of any website that requests you to pay a fee.
