Treasurer
The Treasurer's Office is responsible for the collection and investment of the majority of all County funds. The Treasurer's Office administers and collects County property taxes and also collects revenue from permit and development fees, landfill income, water and sewer payments, gambling and liquor license fees, dog tag sales, and various other fees and fines. In addition, as a convenience to citizens, the Treasurer's Office provides motor vehicle registration renewals, and jury slip redemption.  This office is also responsible for researching and validating deeds prior to recordation at the Court House and for conducting the tax sale May of each year.   County Treasurer's website

Clerk of the Circuit Court
The Clerk’s office files, processes and maintains civil, criminal and juvenile actions. The Clerk’s office records land deeds, mortgages, plats, conveyances and other precious documents. The Clerk administers oaths to County officials, Judges and Governor appointees, issues business and marriage licenses and performs civil wedding ceremonies. Register of Wills
The Register of Wills is responsible for appointing personal representatives to administer decedents’ estates and for overseeing the proper and timely administration of these proceedings. We also perform the following duties: assist and advise the public in the preparation of all required forms; maintain and preserve the permanent record of all proceedings; serve as the Clerk to the Orphans’ Court; track estates and refer delinquent matters to the Court; determine and collect inheritance taxes and probate fees/court costs; audit accounts of personal representatives and guardians; mail various notices and court orders to interested persons; and, verify compliance with court orders.

Judge of the Orphans' Court
The Orphans' Court hears all matters involving decedents' estates which are contested and supervises all of those estates which are probated judicially. It approves accounts, awards of personal representative's commissions, and attorney's fees in all estates. The Court also has concurrent jurisdiction with the circuit court in the guardianships of minors and their property. All matters involving the validity of wills and the transfer of property in which legal questions and disputes occur are resolved by the Orphans' Court.

Board of Education
The Board of Education of Charles County is composed of seven members elected to represent and serve the educational needs and interests of Charles County. They provide direction for and establish educational policy governing Charles County Public Schools. Board Members also have final authority over budgets, curriculum, personnel appointments, capital improvements and land acquisition.
