KAF9830 is the FCC assigned call sign of two General Mobile Radio Service UHF radio repeater stations located on the Chesapeake Bay at Plum Point in Southern Maryland. The GMRS is a radio service for personal licensees (families) to use for family activities. An FCC license is required. License fee to the FCC is $85 for five years and covers every member of your immediate family including those not living in your household. Situated just 800 feet from the Bay, the radio systems have great potential for users vacationing or living in this area. A radio repeater used with appropriate base, portable, and mobile radio equipment can greatly increase effective radio range. By making personal arrangements with the owner of KAF9830 you can share this unique bay-oriented communication resource. There is no fee. You apply for the license and buy your own equipment.
