Leah's House is a shelter for women and children in St. Mary's County. They provide emergency beds for 60-90 days and transitional services for 12-18 months. They also offer opportunities to live in on-site temporary, furnished apartments in exchange for successful participation in a structured program designed to break the cycle of homelessness. On-site childcare services are provided to help working mothers get back on their feet.
On-site programs are provided to teach resume writing, job search, and interview techniques. Leah's House will also work with participants to help them find employment.
Informational and awareness classes on domestic and substance abuse are provided. They can also assist with referrals to other agencies.
By making a donation to Leah's House, you can play an important role in helping women and children break the cycle of homelessness. You can also help us by donating in-kind items. We accept new to gently used items. We appreciate furniture that can be used for our future, much larger, shelter, especially twin beds. Extra items that are not used by Leah's House will be auctioned on our on-line yard sale for further support. You can schedule a pickup or drop off by calling our office at 301-994-9580.
