Calvert Hospice is pleased to provide educational seminars to our community. Attendees will learn about topics that impact end-of-life care for patients and their families. Sessions are designed to encourage group discussion. Our next seminar is entitled "Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters Most in the End," a screening of the documentary based on Dr. Atul Gawande's groundbreaking book followed by discussion and Q & A with Calvert Hospice staff. This special seminar will be held on May 8, 2018 from 1:00-2:30 pm. Calvert Hospice will provide refreshments. The seminar is free.

The location for this educational seminar will be "The Space" at 96 Central Square Drive, Prince Frederick (behind Outback Steakhouse).

Presenters: Calvert Hospice staff members will be available for Q & A and discussion after the film.

Participants will have the opportunity to screen the film Being Mortal, a documentary originally shown on PBS Frontline in 2015. Those who have read the book Being Mortal may enjoy the opportunity to see the film and discuss any comparisons between the two. However, reading the book is not a necessary requirement to attend this seminar—participants will find they have plenty of discussion material from the content presented in the film. This seminar is a perfect opportunity for any book clubs who have read the book to come see the film and share their impressions of both with other attendees.

Contact Peggy Braham at 410-535-0892 or pbraham@calverthospice.org for more information. To register, visit our website at: calverthospice.org/education-seminars/
