March is National Disabilities Awareness Month and to recognize the impact people with disabilities have made in the community, three McDonald’s locations operated by the Welburn Organization will donate 50% of hot and iced coffee sales on Mondays to Spring Dell Center. Funds generated from coffee sales will benefit programs dedicated to connecting people with disabilities in Charles County to the community and employment. Participating locations include 109 Drury Drive, La Plata, MD 20646 (next to the Pepsi-Cola Company), 6385 Crain Hwy, La Plata, MD 20646 (Food Lion Shopping Center) and 3000 Crain Hwy, Waldorf, MD 20601 (next to Outback). Simply purchase your Monday coffee at one of these three locations, and join the movement to spread awareness about disabilities and the initiatives that transform lives locally.

Each Monday, share your McCafe Coffee by posting on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #Spring4McCafe, and you will be entered into a raffle to win gifts from McDonald’s! A new raffle winner will be selected each week in March. The campaign is one of many held in celebration of Spring Dell Center's 50-years supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the community. For more information on this and other upcoming events or to learn more about Spring Dell's 50-year celebration kindly visit www.springdellcenter.org or call (301) 934-4561.

Spring Dell Center is a nonprofit agency providing community-based supports that focus on skill development, employment placement, social connections, and residential supports for people with developmental disabilities in Charles County. Spring Dell began its advocacy and programs in 1967. Since then, the organization has developed an expertise in using an interdisciplinary team approach. Today, the agency is ready for another change as it transforms into employment and community first support agency that empowers people. To learn more visit: www.springdellcenter.org

Join us for a free public documentary screening of the acclaimed film "Groundswell Rising" to learn more about the reality of hydraulic fracturing (aka Fracking) and what the dangers are for the future of our environment and public health.

We will have a Q&A before and after to be prepared and educated on the topic of fracking to be effective at the St. Mary's County Commissioners Public Forum March 7th 6:30pm in the Chesapeake room in Leonardtown. The goal for the commissioner's public forum March 7th is to have as many people who support the ban on fracking present so that they will pass a local ban on fracking and send a letter of support to the state house. We're trying to have speakers who are homeowners, engineers, parents, realtors, both military and local families, watermen, educators and business owners to show broad community support.

Hosted by the Southern Maryland Sierra Club.
