Join us on Wednesday, August 29th to hear about the challenges and opportunities for transit, share your vision on what a climate-friendly, safe, equitable, and reliable transportation system will look like, and set up an action plan!

LOCATION HAS CHANGED! The event will be held at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, 22156 Three Notch Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Sabrina Hecht- Naval Air Station, Patuxtent River Transportation Representative
Frank Allen- Patuxent Tidewater Land Trust, President
Lindsey Mendelson- Maryland Sierra Club, Transportation Representative

Do you want to limit the dangerous pollution that spews out of the tailpipes of the cars we drive? Transportation is now the #1 source of climate-disrupting pollution that exacerbates warm weather, asthma attacks, and missed school days.

Are you sick of sitting in backed up traffic for hours each week instead of spending time with the people you care about? Commuting times in Southern Maryland are among the highest in the nation.

Do you need more access access to public transportation, safe walking and biking paths? Only 1 percent of Southern Marylanders use public transportation for work and 3 percent travel by walking, biking, and other means.

It's clear we need a 21st century transportation system that incentivizes moving people over moving cars. We must demand bold innovation in technology, planning, and policy to ensure we develop clean, modern, and equitable transportation systems for our state.

That’s why we are holding the third in a series of community forums on transportation to amplify conversations on the type of clean transportation options we need in Southern MD, statewide, and across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region.

The event will feature a presentation on our vision for a revenue generating regional transportation system and local community transportation needs. Our panel will include government stakeholders and organizational partners. During the second hour, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists, make public comments on existing transportation issues and hear and engage in an active discussion on a cleaner transportation future for the Southern Maryland region!

Light refreshments will be provided.
