Event: Patuxent Playhouse - THE NERD
Location: St John Vianney Family Life Theater - Prince Frederick
Time: 8 PM Duration: 02:00 hours
Author: Patuxent Playhouse
Patuxent Playhouse presents: “The Nerd”
The Patuxent Playhouse nonprofit community theater group will perform the hilarious comedy “The Nerd” written by Larry Shue and directed by MillieKate Dhu. The performances will take place at the St. John Vianney Family Life Center Theater, located at 105 Vianney Lane in Prince Frederick.
ABOUT “THE NERD”:
Now an aspiring young architect in suburbia, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life in Vietnam . He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "You will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you" -- so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his home on the night of his 34th birthday party. But, his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence, and less tact. Rick's continued presence among Willum and his friends leads to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence, a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising twist ending of the play.SHOW DATES & TIMES:
