The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program, developed by Dr. Paul Lam, uses gentle Sun-style Tai Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn and suitable for every fitness level. The Tai Chi program will help reduce stress, increase balance and flexibility, and improve your overall mind, body, and spirit. During the six week course, participants will learn warm-up and cool-down exercises, six basic core movements, and direction changes to add challenge. Due to the nature of this class, attendance at all sessions is highly recommended and no walk-ins will be accepted; advance sign up is required. Classes will be held at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Mondays, Jan. 23-March 6, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. No class will be held on Feb. 20. To register, call 301-475-4200, ext. 1050. Open to individuals 50 years of age and up.
