St. Mary's County Chapter of the MD Writers Association Mtg.
Book coach and editor Samantha Field will give a talk titled "Before and After: The Author-Editor Relationship." This talk will highlight the importance of editors, using examples like Malcolm Cowley (On the Road), Max Perkins (The Great Gatsby), and Tay Hohoff (To Kill a Mockingbird), who transformed unwieldy and wandering manuscripts into some of our greatest novels. It will also explain all the different forms that editing can take—from beta readers, developmental editors, to proofreaders. Lastly there will be advice on how to find an editor and what to expect during the editing process, especially for writers who might like to self-publish. The event is open to all MWA members and the public. First-time attendees will be admitted for free. For more information, visit www.marylandwriters.org
