The 2016 WOAF will feature 14 original one-act plays written and
performed by local and out-of-state artists and students. Three to four plays will be performed
and adjudicated by qualified professionals during each of four performance sessions on Saturday
June 4, 2016. Top scoring plays will compete in the finals on Sunday June 5 at 2 PM and the
winning script, director, ensemble, and performers will receive awards during the ceremony
following the finals. During each Saturday session and the Sunday finals audience members have
the opportunity to vote for their favorite play, which determine the “Wild Card” Finalist and the
Audience Choice Award.
The competition schedule is as follows: June 4, 10:00 AM – R. DaSilva’s Possibilities Endless,
Rick Thompson’s Almost Opposites Attract, Lois Stephenson’s Loving It!; 1:00 PM – Joanne
McDonald’s Senior Housing, Yair Packer’s Jumping Jasper, Andrew Martineau’s Etched in
Stone; 3:30 PM – Cody Beltis’ The Museum at Clifton Park, Chris Joyce’s The Wright Others,
Yair Packer’s Norma’s Scent, Faina Vitebsky’s The Ticking Clock; 7:30 PM – Jack Wibbe’s The
Queen of Sodom, Chris Joyce’s The Fall of Man, Aaron Leventman’s Confessions of a Character
Actor, R. J. Boia’s Valentine’s Day.
Ticket prices are $12 per Saturday session ($10 students/seniors) and $20 for the Sunday
Finals/Awards Ceremony ($15 students/seniors; includes food and beverages). A festival pass for
both days is available for $55 ($50 students/seniors). All tickets will be sold at the door and only
cash and check will be accepted (no credit cards). Only ticket holders may vote for their favorite
play. No reservations are necessary. All performances will be held at the Bruce Davis Theatre in
Montgomery Hall, SMCM on June 4-5, 2016. Some plays are not appropriate for children.
