McDonough High School Show Choir sings and dances its way through an hour long program of songs April 28 and 29 that most will know and likely will want to sing along.
The show includes such American standards as This is My Country, Who Let the Dogs Out, Purple People Eater, We Will Rock You, At the Hop, Jailhouse Rock, Respect, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, ABC, Dancin' in the Street, Stop in the Name of Love, Love Potion #9, Surfin' USA, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and a tribute to our military branches ending with God Bless the USA.
The Thursday and Friday night shows, both beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the McDonough High School Auditorium in Pomfret, feature 14 singers who were selected by audition for their vocal and performance abilities.
“’Songs of America’ is a mix of patriotic, silly songs, beach songs, songs of Motown, and songs that will rock you! The show has been touring to local elementary schools and has been loved by audience members of all ages," said Vocal Director TC Mazzeo, whose Chamber Choir was recently selected to sing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The entry fee is $5 per person and can be paid at the door. All funds will support McDonough’s Music Department programs, which also includes the show’s Technical Director Caitlin Dunleavy, who led the school’s marching band to first place in the state marching band competition this year.
