Join us as we celebrate 70 years of “The Open Door”. We will host a celebratory banquet on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Bay District Volunteer Firehouse, 46300 S. Shangri-La Drive, Lexington Park, MD. Tickets can be purchased by contacting First Missionary Baptist Church at 301-863-8388—Adults $30.00 and children 13 and under $15.00. Ticket purchase deadline is June 11th (tickets will not be available at the door.)
The celebration will continue on Sunday, June 25, 2017 during our 10:00am Divine Worship Service.

Attention all fathers! This is the month we pay tribute to our Loffler Dads with a delicious breakfast. This year we are getting a jump on the event by honoring you a week early, just like we did last year! Make plans to enjoy a staff-prepared morning meal with your fellow Loffler fathers. Seating is limited to 40 so make your reservations early by calling 301-475-4200, ext. *1658. Or stop by the reception desk to sign up before June 2. This activity is available only to registered Senior Activity Center Participants. Registration is free and the Senior Activity Centers are open to individuals ages 50+.

The National Park Service invites you to learn the secrets of the Declaration of Independence at the home of one of Maryland's signers. Activities include:
• Free tours of Thomas Stone's house are normally given on demand.
• Watch a film and explore the exhibits in the Visitor Center.
• Hike over two miles of trails through forests and fields, while passing historic plantation buildings and the Stone Family Cemetery.
• Complete an assortment of Junior Ranger activities to earn badges, certificates, and other prizes.
• Collect seven different National Park Passport Stamps.
• Purchase books and souvenirs in the gift shop.

A Contra Dance, sponsored by Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance (SMTMD), featuring caller Elgin Perry, will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 37497 Zach Fowler Rd, Chaptico, MD. The doors open at 7:00pm and the dancing begins at 7:30. Contra is a traditional American style of social dance and is a huge amount of fun (and exercise) for the whole family! If you’ve ever danced a Virginia Reel or been to a Square Dance, you have a good idea how much fun it can be. If you haven’t, it’s about time you tried it! Beginners are encouraged to arrive at 7:00 to get some instruction in the various dances. Admission is $10 for non-SMTMD members; $6 for members (band members are free). No special clothing is required! You need to be comfortable, to move freely. There will be an ice cream social following the dance. For more information and directions go to www.smtmd.org
