It’s the 21st Annual Run & Fun Walk for Hospice in Leonardtown and The Leonardtown Vintage Market (LVM) is open on Saturday, April 9th from 8am to 5pm. With a great selection of painted, vintage and antique furniture, home décor (pictures, paintings, mirrors), clothing, jewelry, skin care and much more, you’re sure to find a treasure (or two) to take home! Located across the street from the old courthouse, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday for some retail therapy after the race!

Calling All Vendors. The LVM will host several Flea Markets from May through October on the beautiful green outside the shop /across from the courthouse. We’ve had such an interest from our customers that we’ve started putting together our list of potential vendors/artisans. Whether you’re an old pro or a new flea market vendor, it’s a fun way to spend a weekend. We’re currently working on dates for the flea markets and will provide that information as soon as we have it. You can join our list by providing your contact information when you stop by the shop or contact Sonia via phone at 240-925-4865 or email at sonia572010@gmail.com .

With the arrival of the warmer weather we've resumed our regular schedule. We'll be open the first and third weekends of the month and when there are special events in Leonardtown. For updates on the latest events and happenings at LVM follow us on Facebook at Boutique De Garcia by Sonia – Leonardtown Vintage Market.

Annual Southern Maryland Event Benefits UM Charles Regional Medical Center

St. Charles joins again with DC Road Runners to host the annual St. Charles Running Festival. The event, which features a 10-miler, 5K and Chick-fil-A Kids Fun Run, is open to runners of all abilities and will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Regency Furniture Stadium in St. Charles.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the UM Charles Regional Medical Center, a not for profit hospital serving the Southern Maryland region in its mission to provide the community with a full range of health care services. In support of the Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation funding priorities for this year, the Running Festival will help fund comprehensive rehabilitation services to include physical, speech and occupational therapy, as well as cardiopulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation. Registration is open at www.stcharlesrunfest.com.

The festival will lead runners through the roads of Charles County with Regency Furniture Stadium serving as the focal point. The scenic and mostly flat 10-mile course has runners starting on Piney Church Road, west on Billingsley Road, and south on St. Charles Parkway. The second half of the race continues south on Radio Station Road, east to La Plata Road, then back to Piney Church Road once again before finishing outside of Regency Furniture Stadium.

The 5K course starts and finishes at the stadium and ventures through the neighborhoods on Piney Church Road. Kids Fun Run will take place inside the stadium.

The day's events coincide with the annual Fan Fest celebration hosted by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, including autograph sessions with team players, access to the kids' fun zone at the park, and more.

For more information or to register, please visit www.stcharlesrunfest.com or call 301 609 4132.

The Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center is hosting two major events on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the school site across from the St. Mary's County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown.

The first event is the annual Plant Sale, which benefits the Forrest Center's last Horticulture class and new CASE agriculture program. The Plant Sale takes place in the Greenhouse courtyard. Flowering plants for sale include a variety of Wave Petunias, Geraniums, Begonias, Mandevilla and some Black- Eyed Susan's. Vegetable crops for sale include various Tomato hybrids, Cucumber, Eggplant, Squash, and Lettuce. In addition, some herbs will be available for sale.

In addition to the annual Plant Sale, a Craft/Vendor Bazaar is taking place in the school's Dohrman Conference Center, atrium entrance area and front hallway. Local and regional crafters and vendors will be selling a wide variety of items. The public is invited to come out to enjoy a morning of shopping. Proceeds from table rentals and the silent auction will benefit the Forrest Center's SkillsUSA chapter, which is among the most successful in the state. As a result of that success, the chapter must annually fundraise over $25,000 to cover the cost of leadership training, chapter activities and regional, state & national competitions. For more information about SkillsUSA, go to: www.skillsusa.org.

The event may be recorded and presented on SMCPS Channel 96, the school system's cable channel, and the Internet. For more information about either event, contact the Forrest Center at 301-475-0242.
