The last boat ride to the island will leave the museum pier at 2p.m. and the last boat back to the mainland from the island will be at 3 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the island. The reconstructed Blackistone Lighthouse will be open and available for tours. Wear comfortable walking shoes, sun screen, and bring the camera, binoculars and plenty of water. As part of the Southern Maryland Acoustic Music Assembly, the public is invited to a Contra Dance featuring the Southern Maryland Open Band and a live caller. All ages and abilities are invited to the dance; instruction will be provided. This is a family-friendly event. There will be a cash car—and lasagna dinner (while it lasts for an additional fee of $8; dinner starts at 4:30pm).

All ages and abilities are invited to the dance; instruction will be provided. This is a family-friendly event. "A German Requiem" by Johannes Brahms; presented by the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society with the addition of a full orchestra consisting of adult and advanced student instrumentalists from the Tri-County area. Held at the CSM La Plata campus, 8730 Mitchell Rd, La Plata. "A German Requiem" is notable as a challenging large-scale work, and as the first requiem written in the language of its composer (German), rather than in the language of the Church (Latin). We will be singing it in the language of the choir (English).
