Robinson - Sovine

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Daytona, FL.

Kimberly Ann Robinson and Steven Scott Sovine were married on August 7, 1999 at Marine Corps Base Chapel, Quantico, Va. The bride is the daughter of GySgt, retired Lee and Dottie Robinson of Woodbridge, Va. The groom is the son of Richard and Vera Riddle of Spencer, W.Va. The ceremony was performed by their Pastor Brent Brooks of South Potomac Church, White Plains, Md. The bride wore a white satin long sleeve gown with train and carried a bouquet of white flowers and ivy. Christina Robinson, the bride's sister served as the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids, Kristi Sweeney and Carla Quency, best friends of the bride. All wearing navy blue gowns and carrying bouquets of assorted flowers. The Flower Girl, Brittany Schrock, the bride's niece, wore a white satin gown and carried a basket of assorted flowers. Stanley Clark, brother-in-law of the groom served as Best Man and Groomsmen, William Sayers and Michael Wolfe, both friends of the groom. The Ring Bearers were Matthew and Benjamin Sovine, sons of the groom. The reception followed at the Woodbridge Lodge. The couple honeymooned in Daytona, Fla. The Sovine Family now resides in Waldorf, Md.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in St. Kitt's.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert F. Karnei, Jr. of Wytheville, VA, are happy to announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathleen Marie Karnei to Michael Jerome Hammett at half past the hour of ten o’clock on Saturday morning, the 24th of July 1999. The double ring ceremony took place at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Annandale, Virginia, with Pastor, and friend of the bride, the Rev. Wesley E. Arthur, Sr. officiating.

Handbell music was provided by The Peace Ringers, directed by Nancy Cappel. Vocal selections were by soloist, Erin Trost and by Reverend Wesley E. Arthur, Sr. Lou Ann Pardue was the organist. Scripture selections were read by brother of the bride, Robert F. Karnei, III of Sterling, VA, and by Mrs. Gladys Hudgens, of Spartenburg, SC, a close friend of the bride’s family. Friend of the bride, Mrs. Edna Emondson, was the church wedding coordinator.

The bride is a 1995 graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in Health Science and Policy. She is presently the Health and Safety Administrator for the St. Mary’s County Chapter of the American Red Cross, in Patuxent River, Maryland.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Jerome Hammett of Compton, Maryland. Michael is a 1983 graduate of Leonardtown High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 1989. Michael is presently employed as a senior consultant for Booz-Allen, and Hamilton in Lexington Park, Maryland.

The bride was wearing her sister’s (Kimberly Karnei Johnson) long, white silk shantung, Galina gown with fitted bodice, short-fitted sleeves and full skirt with chapel train. The bodice and the sleeves of the dress were overlaid with eyelash lace and highlighted with sequins and small pearls. The new waist-length veil was edged in thin white satin and held in place with a rose bud headpiece.

The bride carried a large nosegay of Bridal White Roses and Queen Ann’s Lace held in place with a white satin ribbon wrap and adorned with a sheer white bow. The altar table was covered with an array of summer flowers, which included Gerber Daisies, Snapdragons, Stock, Starlight Lilies, and Blue Delphinium. Two large baskets of similar flowers were at each side of the chancel. The floral arrangements were done Mrs. Judy Fender, friend of the bride.

The bride’s sisters, Mrs. Kimberly Karnei Johnson, Matron of Honor, and Miss Susan Karnei, Maid of Honor, attended to Kathleen. Also in attendance were the bride’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Darcy Karnei, and friends, Mrs. Janice McNalley and Miss Monica Bond. Flower girls were nieces of the bride and groom, Kaylyn Karnei and Kristen Hammett.

The bridal attendants wore fitted knee length dresses made of pale mauve silk shantung. The sleeveless Hannah Henry dress was created in the traditional Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis style, complete with rounded neck, fitted waist, and a slightly scalloped hem with eyelet appearance. Bridal attendants carried nosegays of Bridal white and pink Roses set off with Queen Ann’s Lace, Blue Delphinium, Gerber Daisies, and Stock.

The groom’s brother, Matthew Hammett, was best man. The other groomsmen were Pramod Kalapa, Bob Brightful, and Steve Hawthorne, friends of the groom. Chris Karnei, brother of the bride, and David Tippett, brother-in-law of the groom, served as ushers. Ring bearer was Kyle Karnei, nephew of the bride. The groom and his attendants wore black cutaway coat tuxedos by Ralph Lauren, with six button vests and Euro ties.

Immediately following the ceremony, family and friends celebrated at a seated buffet luncheon reception at the Fort McNair Officers’ Club in Washington, D.C.. The blessing was given by the Reverend Larry Plymire. Music was provided for dancing.

Following their honeymoon to St. Kitts, the couple is now at home in Leonardtown, MD.
