Seeking Nominations for 20th Annual “Maryland’s Most Beautiful People” Volunteer Awards

Celebrating 20 years honoring volunteers in Maryland, The Maryland You are Beautiful Program, in conjunction with the Governor’s Office, Maryland Life Magazine and the St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation, Parks & Community Services, is now accepting nominations for the 20th Annual “Maryland’s Most Beautiful People” Volunteer Awards. The deadline for nominations is August 25, 2006.

“Unique to Maryland and the nation, the Maryland You are Beautiful Program generates enormous State pride by recognizing thousands of unsung heroes who make Maryland a better place to live, work, and visit,” said Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. “This is truly an example of how one person’s dedication of time and energy really makes a difference to a particular cause or community.” Every year, hundreds of people from all over the State nominate friends and community members for their outstanding volunteer efforts. These selfless individuals have touched many lives, ultimately improving the quality of life for all of our citizens.

All nominees for St. Mary’s County will be recognized by the Board of County Commissioners at a local award ceremony. One nominee will be chosen to represent St. Mary’s County at a statewide awards ceremony and dinner in Baltimore in November 2006.

To nominate an outstanding volunteer from St. Mary’s County, please obtain a nomination form from the St. Mary’s County Government’s website at http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us/recreate/ocs/docs/MDBeautifulForm2006.pdf or by calling the Division of Community Services at (301) 475-4200, ext; 1849.
