New Art From Old Treasures

A group of enterprising local artists will be offering their "recycled" art in the first annual NEW ART FROM OLD TREASURES exhibit and charity sale Sat-Sun, Sept. 27-28, 11 am -6 pm, in Hollywood, to show the world that most objects have a second life as Art. A portion of the sales will benefit the Three Notch Theater/Newtowne Players. Newtowne Players from Three Notch Theater will entertain in costume throughout both days. Door prizes and soothing background music will greet the guests.

Handcrafted art work for sale will include fused glass pieces, pottery, wood sculpture, jewelry, cashmere patchwork quilts, felted wood bags and decorator pillows, crocheted rag rugs, elaborate lady's handbags and apparel, found object sculpture, re-incarnated dolls forming "Neptune's Kingdom" and a variety of creative pieces using "sustainable" materials.

The New Art From Old Treasures Show will run from 11am -6 pm, Sat-Sun, Sept 27-28, at a private home; 24707 Farmkey Lane, in Hollywood, Md.

CALL FOR ARTISTS:
Guidelines for participation are as follows:

Seeking artists working with recycled and sustainable materials...whatever your medium... wearable art, jewelry, pottery, wood products, art or decorations for home or garden, toys, etc, etc. All Artwork, 2D, 3D, jewelry, apparel, decorative or functional, must be made from re-cycled or sustainable materials.

*DEFINITIONS:
Recycled: Artwork made from used goods, found objects, de-constructing and re-constructing, mutation and metamorphosis.
Sustainable: Materials that will "grow back quickly" such as bamboo vs. oak or materials that are already "dead" such as barn wood or driftwood.

*DATES
Set up will begin Friday Sept 26th, 5:00PM. You must be out by 9:00 PM but may return at 8:00AM Saturday. Show dates are Saturday and Sunday, Sept 27th and 28th, 11:00AM � 6:00PM. Everything must be removed from the premises by 9:00PM Sunday.
