The Charles County Commissioners are seeking County residents to fill vacancies on the following boards and commissions: the Homeowner*s Association (HOA) Dispute Review Board, the Commission for Women, the Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity and Intergroup Relations, and the Animal Matters Hearing Board.

There are three vacancies on the seven-member HOA Dispute Review Board, which meets as needed to hear and resolve disputes between a homeowners* association and a homeowner regarding the covenants or restrictions of the homeowners* association. One vacancy is for an at-large member for a three-year term. The second vacancy is for a three-year term for resident of a self-managed or professionally managed HOA. The third vacancy is for a resident who would fill an unexpired two-year term, ending December 31, 2007, for a member of a profession associated with common ownership communities.

There are four vacancies on the Commission for Women. Three vacancies are for four-year terms, and the other vacancy is for an unexpired four-year term ending December 31, 2007. The Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the County Government Building in La Plata.

The newly formed 15- to 25-member Charles County Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity and Intergroup Relations will focus on opinion gathering, the review and exchange of ideas, the sharing of practical proposals and long-term visions from citizens at all levels related to promoting diversity in Charles County. Members will serve two-year terms.

There is one vacancy on the nine-member Animal Matters Hearing Board to fill an unexpired four-year term that ends August 31, 2010. This board meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. in Commissioners Meeting Room of the County Government Building in La Plata.
